Important Eclipse Day Information

On Monday, August 21, there will be a solar eclipse. The area just to our south will be at the "crossroads of the eclipse", which means that they will experience a full, 100% eclipse. Our area is projected to experience a slightly less eclipse. Nonetheless, this is a celebrated event. We will have school on eclipse day. Your child should have brought home an opt in/opt out form for you to sign. Please return the form to school. If we do not have a signed form, your child will not be allowed to go outside during the eclipse. A copy of the form that was sent home is below. Also below, is a picture and specifications of the eclipse glasses that will be handed out to OBR students.

OBR students will be outside on and off throughout the day to watch the eclipse. Approved solar eclipse glasses will be handed out to students that day. Students will be instructed on the use of the glasses and will be required to wear the glasses during the event while they are outside.

Below is a picture of the eclipse glasses that will be handed out to students on Monday. They were provided to all schools in the area by Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

They are "Eclipse Shades", manufactured in the USA by Rainbow Symphony, Inc., Reseda, CA. (818) 708-8400
